Welcome to the Arizona Department of Transportation's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program website. This site is designed to provide you with a wide variety of resources and information about biking and walking in Arizona, including places to bike and walk, how to integrate biking and walking into your commute, important laws and policies, safety issues, maps, and organizations. Bicycling and walking are not only great alternative modes of transportation, but also are great ways to get exercise and improve Arizona's air quality. Arizona is the perfect place for biking and walking year-round. So explore the site and enjoy the benefits of safe bicycling and walking.

ADOT is conducting a study of the Economic Impact of Bicycling in Arizona. The degree to which bicycling affects the State’s economy and Arizona’s quality of life is not well-known. The desired effect of this study is to improve that understanding among decision makers, State and local governments, the transportation planning community, and the general public.

Plan Update

ADOT completed the Arizona Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan in 2003 to address bicycle and pedestrian safety concerns throughout the state and to promote bicycling and walking as a viable transportation option. The 2003 Plan offered a long-term vision for a statewide system of interconnected and shared roadways and bicycle and pedestrian facilities to guide ADOT transportation decisions relating to bicycle and pedestrian travel, planning, and facility development. The purpose of the ADOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Update is to reflect and respond to significant changes that have occurred over the past eight years.
